Many hiking & skiing regions only talk about sustainability and the mobility of the future. In St. Anton am Arlberg, sustainable arrival and departure has long been a reality. Now, with the “Ski Express Tirol”, another milestone has been reached that combines comfort and sustainability.
Arrival to St. Anton am Arlberg by train
From June 24, there will be a new direct train from Munich to St. Anton. This leaves the Bavarian capital at 06:26 on Saturdays and arrives in St. Anton at 11:03. This makes it the perfect connection for day trippers, weekenders and all those who just want to get out of the city and breathe some mountain air. In addition to the two new direct connections, St. Anton am Arlberg continues to be well connected in the ÖBB route network. The Railjet stops in the winter sports metropolis at least every two hours. This train is ideal especially for travelers from the east of Austria (from Vienna) or from the west of Austria or Switzerland (from Zurich).
With our new tool “greta” you can find the right train connection directly on our website:

Our tip: The direct connection between Munich and St. Anton am Arlberg will also be available in winter. This means that you can travel to the Arlberg quickly and stress-free even in winter.
Comfort on site: Car-free vacation in St. Anton am Arlberg
The advantages of car-free travel are obvious, or more precisely, on the rail. Traveling by the new train connection from Munich and other long-distance trains is convenient, sustainable and fast. Without traffic jams or closures, you can comfortably get to St. Anton and back again. And even on site you do not miss the car at all. Thanks to the well-developed public transport system, you can easily get from A to B in St. Anton. In only 8 minutes, the free bus line 2 “St. Jakob” takes you from the train station in St. Anton (stop: Terminal West) to the Hotel Die Arlbergerin (stop: Rafalt). The bus stop is right next to the design hotel. And even during your vacation, the free buses are the best way to get around.
The Arlbergerin: Sustainable living in the new design hotel
A sustainable or green vacation is not limited to the means of transportation alone. Sustainability plays a particularly important role in the choice of accommodation. In our Hotel Die Arlbergerin, we are very concerned about the mindful treatment of nature and our fellow human beings. Regionality was very important to us in the planning and implementation of our new design rooms. Local companies were mainly involved in the construction, and the materials are mostly from the region. Like in our beautiful double room Zirbe, which is furnished with high-quality and allergy-friendly Zirbe wood. But we see our responsibility not only regionally, but also internationally. For this reason, we use only fair trade products in the bathrooms and thus support the creation of fair working conditions in developing countries. Our sustainable philosophy is also evident in the kitchen. We avoid saltwater fish and seafood in our meals. In addition, most of the ingredients are regional or even homemade.
